Ferrari 296 GTS Launched In India For Rs.6.28 Crore

Ferrari has introduced its latest model on Indian roads—the 296 GTS. Positioned as a mid-range supercar, it offers a more affordable and slower alternative to its larger sibling, the SF90, which currently serves as Ferrari’s flagship mid-engine model. Pricier than the front-mid engined Portofino, the 296 GTS is designed to fulfill your supercar desires, replacing the F8 Spider. It is essentially a convertible drop top of the 296 GTB

Powertrain

The 296 GTS showcases Ferrari’s renowned powertrain expertise. It features a 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine that generates 654 horsepower, accompanied by a 165 horsepower electric motor. This combination results in an impressive combined output of 830 horsepower in the Qualifying mode, surpassing the F8 Tributo by nearly 120 horsepower. The integration of the Transition Manager Actuator (TMA) and proprietary software allows for seamless cooperation between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor, ensuring consistent and exhilarating performance. Furthermore, the high-voltage 7.45KW battery, in conjunction with the sophisticated software, facilitates smooth and instant power delivery.

Design

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, and the sleek and curvaceous design of the 296 GTS captivates the senses. Exhibiting the modern Ferrari design language, it exudes elegance and allure, surpassing even the Hard-Top 296 GTB. Like other contemporary Ferrari spiders, it features an aluminium drop-top that enhances its aesthetics, whether the roof is up or down. The rear end evokes nostalgia with its wide rear haunches, reminiscent of classic Ferrari models, rivalling the timeless beauty of the 458.

Interior

Emphasizing the driver-centric nature of a supercar, the 296 GTS offers an interior focused solely on the driver. The instrument cluster takes center stage, with no additional screens in the middle. This design choice has generated some debate. While the materials and build quality meet expectations, the layout and control placement leave something to be desired. For instance, the steering wheel is overly complex, featuring numerous functions that may not be practical for everyday use, such as indicators, navigation, and climate control. Additionally, several physical buttons have been replaced with capacitive touch buttons, resulting in limited tactile feedback and occasional lag. However, it’s worth noting that Italian cars often possess unique quirks.

Dynamics

Ferrari has demonstrated its commitment to developing an exceptional plug-in hybrid with the 296 GTS. The chassis tuning and the new 6-way traction control system are truly impressive. In contrast The carbon fibre structure is 50% stiffer than its predecessor the F8 Tributo, and remarkably the convertible hybrid weighs only 1610 kg—a mere 70 kg more than the coupe variant. From the powertrain to the handling, the 296 GTS represents a significant upgrade and can be seen as a worthy successor not only to the F8 but can also hold a candle to the legendary 458 Italia.

Pricing

A Ferrari experience comes at a Ferrari price, with the 296 GTS starting at Rs. 6.28 Crore. It is undoubtedly an expensive toy for automotive enthusiasts who demand the best.

  1. Hey Siddarth,
It’s great to see you writing blogs but personally I think you should try freelance content writing which will help you build connections with other websites and even you will get exposure through websites. I can understand your feelings as a petrolhead but what I think is that freelancing will help you establish yourself in the automotive world. Wishing you all the best for your future.
